A CHICAGO BASEMENT & AN IDEA…
The idea for Streetlights Audio Bible began in a Chicago basement next to a small church in Chicago which actively ministered to its neighborhood, where Esteban Shedd observed that many young men struggled to connect with traditional Bible reading due to educational and cultural barriers. Esteban created a dynamic pilot recording of Acts 2 and 3 and set it to a Hip Hop soundtrack, which resonated with the group and sparked the idea for Streetlights Audio Bible — an accessible, multimedia resource for urban communities to bridge the gap of Bible learning.
MINISTER LOCALLY BUT HIT THE HUMBLE ROAD
The vision for Streetlights & its team grew under GRIP Outreach for Youth and gained recognition nationally, particularly through the support of Humble Beast Records and many other artists who joined in to produce the English Audio Bible. The use by urban leaders and young people led to a global reach, with the Streetlights' app being downloaded in over 100 countries, and led to an increasing demand for translations to serve diverse populations.
Streetlights has since expanded its offerings to include Audio Bibles in English and Spanish, Bible teaching resources, and an active music ministry by ALERT312. As the ministry continued to grow, it launched as its own non-profit in 2019 to meet the increasing demand for global, multilingual communication of God’s Word and in order to strengthen more Gospel mission endeavors.

Today, Streetlights is supported by a growing team and kingdom partnerships, with outreach expanding through new Audio Bible languages, a growing digitally-reached audience and through live gatherings for training & Gospel Outreach. The ministry’s mission remains to bring God’s Word to all people, in a format they can understand, through audio Bibles, Bible teaching, and Gospel saturated music. With new studio facilities and a growing team in Chicago and Puerto Rico, Streetlights is continuing to pursue the goal of helping take the beautiful Gospel to all nations and sharing Jesus Christ’s love through dynamic, creative communication.
