WHO IS GOD? ALL-KNOWING & CARING

Would you trust a leader if he or she were all knowing? That idea would make most of us feel uncomfortable, because with more knowledge comes more power. Honestly, there have been too many situations where human leaders have ended up abusing the growing knowledge and power they obtained.

But what if someone with ultimate knowledge also cared for you deeply? Let’s call that person all caring. Now it starts to be comforting to us to think of such a person—someone who not only knows it all but also cares for us with that unlimited knowledge. Let’s face it: Life is full of unknowns, so a person like that could be of great help.

God is never limited in His knowledge. Let that sink in. The past, the present, and the future are fully clear to Him, and He knows how they work together. That is “God status” for sure! His knowledge is the polar opposite of the extremely limited knowledge we have. But He is not only all knowing; He is also all caring. In Matthew 10, we hear Jesus breaking down a bleak picture of the chaotic circumstances that His followers will live in. Poverty, hate, political injustice, family betrayal, and even martyrdom are just a few experiences in the tough list of hard times they will face. Yet, in Matthew 10:28-31, we can see how God’s unlimited knowledge and all-caring nature combine to give us a solid reason to trust in Him. Be secure in the truth that He not only knows every chaotic detail of your life but also values you deeply and can be trusted to carry you through the chaos of the unknowns.

WHO AM I? NEEDY FOR AN ALL-KNOWING GOD

“Sometimes I feel like I’m falling,
Sometimes I feel like I’m falling way down.
Up in the middle of a cloud,
30k above with life pushing me down.”

I penned those lyrics while I was writing the song “Soon Come, Weather Man” by ALERT312. I was in a sea of life’s storms, and I felt like I was alone and drowning. Do you ever feel like life is out of control? Like you are being pulled under by waves of chaos and uncertainty? Our lives are full of what can feel like chaotic waves. As much as we want to control life, life often feels out of control.

What we need is someone who knows everything about us and cares deeply for us and our real circumstances—someone we can trust to navigate as we go through the unknowns of life. God knows each of us down to the last hair on our head (Matthew 10:30). Along with having that knowledge of us, He also knows that we need Him.

The problem is that we often consistently think and act like we don’t need Him. But let’s be real. Which one of us can make sense of life’s chaos independent of God’s help? We all are needy. And God is the all-knowing, all-caring one we desperately need.

WHAT DO I DO? WALK WITH GOD - HE KNOWS & CARES

“If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it” (Matthew 10:39). Jesus makes it very clear that we have two options. Our default is to cling to our lives and try to create our own answers through our limited knowledge. But the other option is to walk with the all-knowing, all-caring God by trusting His voice. We each have the choice.

Some of us know too well where the choices that are not guided by God’s knowledge and wisdom leave us: more confused and lost. That is why Christ says, “You cling, you lose.” But His offer for us to find life by following Him shows His care and love for us. Remember, He knows what is best for us and cares for every hair on our heads (Matthew 10:30). The truth Jesus lays out here comes with a promise: Following Him means you are placing yourself in His caring, knowledgeable hands.
